I have a pair of Terra Planas that I bought on sale last year and I get compliments on them all the time. This company uses local materials when possible, uses vegetable tanning, and even recycled materials. These boots are new for fall: Terra Plana has sales at the end of the season, so wait [...]

I feel a constant conflict between buying cute clothes and being sustainably responsible. A lot of the thrift stores I’ve been to before that sell used clothes are identical to my grandma’s closet.  And most of the responsible companies that are eco friendly are more high end and expensive (check out the prices at Stewart [...]

I have posted about Stewart + Brown before so I’ll just say that they have some new items available on the website. They are the most environmentally responsible clothing company  that I’m aware of and their organic cotton tees are soft and feel great. This is a diversion from what I usually post, but I just love Hayden-Harnett, the amazing design duo of Brooklyn.  As a design fanatic, I have been following them for a couple of years now. I’m usually one for subtlety rather than preachy messages written across my accessories, but in this case, I think I’ll cave in.  Hayden-Harnett’s products [...]

I love Angela Adams’  handmade rugs, but since I can’t afford one right now, I’m lusting after her tote bags. They are hand-printed and assembled in Maine with Adams’ original designs. The canvas is a less expensive and more environmentally-friendly material than leather. And the design is more original than a made-in-China corporate design.
Perfect for [...]

Stuart and Brown, a clothing company established in California, is dedicated to green practices. They use organic cotton and sustainable fabrics, and many of their products are made in the USA.  Their Autumn 2008 collection is now available on the website, but there is also a sale section for those of us who can’t afford [...]

Patagonia is one of the most environmentally responsible companies there is. They member of 1% for the Planet, which means that they donate 1% of sales (since 1985) to protecting the planet. Patagonia uses a number of recycled materials in their products, and their t-shirts as well as other knit items are made with [...]
